When FIXMBR fails to restore the Master Boot Record, FIXBOOT will read the information of the install and rebuild the master boot record from scratch and install it on the first sector of the hard drive. Insert your Windows Vista DVD, click Repair your computer and then click Repair Boot or something like this and Reboot the machine. If it doesn't work, then boot again from the DVD do the same thing but choose this time "Command Prompt". After, type bootrec.exe /fixboot , then type bootrec.exe /fixmbr . It should work!!
