We had a speedometer problem it was the key that locked the speedometer driver gear to the transmission output shaft. The key was broke had to pull the rear housing on the transmission to get to the gear. Yea you have to pull the transmission. Ez
check the cable that runs from the gearbox to the dash. (the connection IN the dash looks like a green receptical for a light bulb, its HARD to miss)
make sure that it turns properly and that, when in its correct position, turns the small brass coloured part inside the speedo mechanism (the end of the cable should be a square-ish prong that is should insert into a hole in the extreme rear of the speedometer mechanism).
if the unit doesnt work (if the cable is fine and the mechanism bares no apparent defects) see a wrecking yard about buying a new one
(that's what i did when i found it didnt measure above 45km/h)
all the trip meters and odometer all run off the same cable (as the speedometer), so if they are still operating (except the speedo) then i would suppose the cable is in good order and the problem lies somewhere else.
the taco is digital. so don't worry about that.
that's about as far as my knowledge goes on this. maybe it helps, maybe I've told you what you've already observed.
Speedometers have to be repaired by an authorized repair shop.
You should clarify what is broken about it. It could be something as simple as a broken speedometer cable or the whole unit may need to be replaced.
yes, you will have to remove all the plastics from the 94 and put them into the 92, as well as the wiring.
I own a 1993 Mazda 323. I had the same problem with the automatic seatbelts. I found out that the problem is caused by a little round circuit. This circuit is in the middle consol where the seatbelts are stored (I believe it is attached behind the pulley of the seatbelt housing. It looks like Mazda is using some kind of conductive metal which is worn out by time. Since the metal on the circuit is worn, seatbelt safety circuit stays open and causes seatbelt alarm stay on. I just changed the driver's side with the passenger's side and beep went off. However, I would recommend you to contact the Mazda dealar and ask if you can have this part replaced.
AnswerCould be a bad ignition switch. or Timing is off. This is known as dieseling. The car runs off combustion and burned gases still in the cylinder even if the ignition is off. Make sure marks are lined up on the camshafts and crankshaft. mostly likely have to remove the valve cover to check timing. Even though its a chain timing can still skip a mark. Another thing to do is make sure the piston is on top dead center and the dist. is firing on the number 1 cylinder.also try Removing the spark plug on number 1 and have someone turn it over as you watch for a spark.
BRIDGE THE TERMINALS GND AND TBS IN THE DIAGNOSTIC SOCKET. SWITCH THE IGNITION ON. THIS WILL CAUSE THE ABS LIGHT TO FLASH. (BY COUNTING THE FLASHES WILL EXPLAIN THE FAULT STORED IN THE ECU. EXPLAINED BELOW.) DEPRESS AND RELEASE THE BRAKE PEDAL 10 TIMES IN 10 SECONDS. REMOVE THE BRIDGE WIRE. THIS WILL TURN OFF THE ABS LIGHT AS LONG AS THE FAULT HAS BEEN CURED. A LOT OF THE TIME IT CAN BE A GLITCH IN THE SYSTEM. The 1993 Mazda the inertia?æswitch can be found on the firewall in the engine compartment. The inertia switch will be on the passenger side of the firewall.
The idle air control valve is on the the bottom of the throttle body.
I haven't been able to find.
A 1993 Mazda MX-3 does not have an inertia switch. If anything is wrong with what would normally be the inertia switch, the fuel pump may be faulty.

The fuel pressure regulator is located on the fuel rail of the vehicle.

The neutral safety switch, release switch, or brake switch is bad.
