There is a fellow on Ebay that repairs these controls. It is easy to remove from the car and he will repair your control and ship it back out in 24 hours. He repaired mine 15 months ago and it still works perfectly. His eBay username is "musclos1" The title on his current ad is "1998- 2000 Buick Regal Century Climate, Heater Control" His current price is 36.95 including shipping.

It should be fine if you move it yourself. It should not mess anything up by you touching it, and not a repair man.

There really isn't a heater control valve. The coolant flows through the heater core at max pressure and temperature is controlled by controlling the amount of air flowing through the heater core. This is the function of the blend door and this is a fairly common failure on Ford trucks. Check heatertreater.net for diagnostic information and suggestions on how to repair the system.

The best way to find the location of a part on your car is to go to Autozone.com Once there, create an account, add your car to "my vehicles." In search key in part you are looking for, to the left of the part you should see "View Job Diagram." Click on and a repair guide image showing location of part will come up. The diagram will show the climate control system for heater related parts such as the Blend Door Actuator, Heater Core, Heater Hose Clamps, Heater Motor Resistor, Heater Control Vavle, and Blower Motor.
