The old battery will not just slide out. You have to either press the release button or the latch. Then you place the new battery in the slot where the old one was located and you got your new battery installed.

5.Turn off your laptop and disconnect the AC adapter- It is a good practice to disconnect your laptop
6.Release the latch or other attachment devices that hold your battery in place

9.Slide it into the notch or bay.
