to your questionIt happened to me and a few others too. I ended up having to take it to a mechanic due to the fact that the shroud, and radiator have to come out. There is not enough clearence to be able to remove the clutch fan without doing so. After that they have this squared of flat wrench that will pry the main nut loose. Be careful who you have fixing the problem, as one mechanic where i bought the trailblazer from did not have this wrench and then tried to back it off with an air chisel. Luckily the second mechanic could still get it off. Once that nut is off it is just a matter of pulling it out and replacing it with a new one. My mechanic charged me for three hours of labor cause that is what the book calls for so keep an eye on that as well. I think some one at gm needs to take a look at that year cause i have three friends that own the same year 2002 and all of our fans went on the fritz. Good Luck

This Q/A has nothing to do with a heater core; it is discussing the fan clutch. Title needs to be changed.
