* No, you do not have to drop the fuel tank. You can remove the back seat cushion and access the fuel pump from there. You will see an aluminum cover plate with some wires coming from the top. This is the cover. Remove this, and you will find that a ring locks the top of the fuel pump hangar and sending unit into the gas tank. Remember... VENTILATION and NO SPARKS!! Disconnect the fuel line, and use a wood block to get the locking ring unscrewed. Make sure you mop up any spilled gas. Carefully remove the hangar/sending unit assembly.
