I did this last weekend on my 1998 C class.
After reading several places about it, i did it even easier than normally suggested.
Removing the entire assembly was NOT needed.
Remove the screw securing the trim piece between the bumper and the lens. (I could only reach the one by the grill, and this was enough). Gently pull it back...as it still attached on the other side. remove (it just pulls off) the rubber trim/gasket that surrounds the light assembly. You can now see the little clips that hold the lense to the assembly. Pop them up/off/loose. Remove lens and old gasket. Put new gasket in and make sure it is entirely in the track. Put lens on and snap clips back on. Replace mouldings.
Was really pretty easy.
part and labor?
Are you replacing the bulb or the entire assembly? - thunderheart the car guy
These units are sealed. You have to replace the whole unit.
the infliue i think when i have some cold that time means fuel
The complete headlight bucket assembly comes out so you can replace the bulbs easily. Open the hood, stand in front of said headlight, notice two locking tabs sticking up behind the headlight bucket, with a little effort pull up and wiggle each tab out, now wiggle the entire headlight assembly out in the open, twist and remove headlight socket in question, reverse proceedure to install.
How do you replace an alternor on a 97 pathfinder
If the damage is on the outside of the lens and you have never noticed any condensation or wettness inside the headlight this is an easy fix. The 97 dodge stratus should have plastic headlights if it does then you can get them retored or restore them yourself pretty easily by just going to headlightsolution.net they specialize in restoring plastic headlights, I owned a 2001 dodge intrepid with horrible yellow headlights i tried this company now they look brand new and i can see at night once again. Good luck.
no i did not replace head light switch
How do I replace thermostat on 97 Ford van
how to replace 97 Lexus ES300 transmission
The headlights are sealed units, unfortunately they do cloud over a bit with age. Try a cut and polish on the outside of the lens to clean them up a bit, but you would have to go to a plastic welder or similar to get them to remove the housing, and even then, cleaning them may not remove the cloudy effect.
Remove the 2 thumb screws that hold the headlight in place
