Talk to "the Potters" @ parts4vws and they will hook you up, they are good people.
Some on the web will tell you to drop the exhaust system, try not to. I'm 6'4" with big hands and I was able get my meat-paws up in there with the exhaust in place on my 95' VR6. Move the cat heat shield rear or rotate it off (you'll have to bend it, thats OK, it's aluminum) if you are repairing/replacing the stick shift components. You'll need floor jack-stands and a lot of patience and a little courage but it's easily doable in a day to change out everything.
