On the inside of the door, directly in back of the mirror, there is a triangular piece of plastic trim. This trim prys off and exposes a fairly large hex nut. Use a socket wrench and remove the nut to release the mirror housing. Oh, by the way, you will be purchasing the entire mirror housing. In the case of electric mirror controls, you will also need to disconnect the wiring. This is a simple plug in.
