I no longer own my 1996 maxima but remember removing the plate on the manifold first. I believe it has a 3000 on it. There are 6 or 8 small Allen wrench bolts on the edges. Take that off and you should be able to see the plug cords. Be careful and pull at the plug not on the cord of the spark plug wire. You might separate the wire from the boot(the thick rubber piece directly on the spark plug) and then have to buy those too.
