How do you replace the alternator on a 1993 Saturn?
start by taking off the passager side tire unscrew the inner wheel well alternator should sit right in front of you (2) 15mm bolts and (1) 10 mm bolt. good luck
The 07 Saturn Aura does not have an alternator fuse, and technically it is a generator not an alternator. There is a large gauge wire from the generator to the starter, this is a fuseable link. Check for 12 vdc at the large terminal of the generator, if is missing check the terminal on the starter. If the starter has 12 vdc and the generator does not, the link is bad and must be replaced…
The voltage regulator on alternators of almost all modern vehicles (including all Saturn's), is INSIDE the alternator. When rebuilding an alternator it is relatively simple to replace the regulator at the same time you replace brushes, bearings and other components, but if you haven't done it before and don't have someone knowledgeable to guide you through the process, don't try to rebuild an alternator yourself.
your alternator is either week in volts. Use a volt tester. or alternator is now working. replace it. I had same porblem with three batterys to test the alternator turn car on let run on idle and disconnect the positive car should still be running if it shuts off first check all wires on alternator if still connected then alternator is bad TIME TO REPLACE IT.
"First Remove the Tension bolt from the alternator and remove." "Next take a hammer and gently tap the alternator down" "Do the same with the Tension Mount" "After realigning the alternator and the Tension mount replace the bolt" "BE CAREFUL NOT TOO TIGHT ON THE BELT OR YOU WILL RUIN THE BEARINGS" "GOOD LUCK"
Which regulator? The voltage regulator is INSIDE the alternator. If that regulator has failed you can either rebuild the alternator (don't even try unless you're experienced), or you can simply replace the alternator. The fuel pressure regulator is near the rear of the engine, drivers side. Just get a new one, pop out the old one, clean everything well and put the new one in it's place.
