How do you replace the brakes on a 1996 Nissan Sentra?

The same way as any other car. Remove the caliper, remove the brake reservoir lid, use c-clamp to draw in piston, replace pads, grease tracks, fasten caliper, put lid back on, pump brake pedal for pressure. Go to other wheels, repeat.

According to the manual of my 1996 Sentra XE, page 174, the order is 1-3-4-2. Should be the same for GXE. Hope that helps

NISSAN SENTRA'S AND OTHER NISSAN MODELS COME WITH A CHAIN. THEY ARE REPLACED WHEN THEY FAIL. TAKE NOTE:IF THEY FAIL.. HOPE YOU ARE AT IDLE WHEN IT DOES.. OTHERWISE IT MAY COST AN ENTIRE NEW CYLINDER HEAD.

On the 1993 Sentra the speedometer sensor is located on the top of the transmission on the drivers side near the firewall. I have the same problem and would like to replace the sensor but cannot seem to get it out. Do you know how to remove? acpbcc@aol.com Art Plymouth, MA

Pass. side center of front cover. pully is in belt system.

It doesn't have an orifice tube. It has an expansion valve that is located inside of the evaporator box. The evaporator assembly will have to be removed and taken apart to replace the expansion valve.

Replace it when the engine needs a complete overhaul, if the chain becomes noisy, or if you are unable to keep the engine timed. Normally they last well over 100,000 miles.
