1. Got to the Public Library and request the Electrical Shop Manual for your year, unless you are able to locate the HI-BEAM wire. 2. Locate the wire that runs from the steering column switch to the C200 connector -- the very large connector the connects the steering column wiring harness to the firewall harness. 3. Either cut this wire and run the FIREWALL end to the new floor switch OR tie into this wire. NOT cutting it allows both column AND floor control. 4. Run the YELLOW wire from the HEAD/PARK Light Switch to the new floor mounted switch -- it's usually from pin 'D'.

on the left side of the steering column... under the steering wheel.

It is bolted on the steering column behind the dash, along with the dimmer switch. You have to drop the column and unscrew the switch. Problem is, the plug with the wiring also has the wiring for the turn signals and dimmer switch. You may have to do some splicing unless you want to feed a harness up the column.

The dimmer switch is located under the dash to the left of the steering column. Unfortunately I don't know of any way to get to it without dismantling the dash and the steering column. Even with those items removed, it was a real chore to get at it. When we replaced my dimmer switch, we got everything back together and found that the rod that connects the dimmer switch to the lever on the steering column was bending too much to activate the new dimmer switch. This job took all day and was a waste of time and money as we have a new dimmer switch but it is useless without fixing the connecting rod problem.

Removing the dimmer switch starts at the steering column. To plan this task out, access the steering column by removing the screws holding the steering column shroud in place. This will expose the turn signal lever. Remove the lever by twisting it forward, and pulling it out of the switch.

The dimmer switch on a Chevy Celebrity is mounted to the steering column, down from the ignition switch. To get to it you will need to lower the steering column. 1. Remove the under dash panel. Make note of how it comes off so you can put it back. 2. Remove the trim panel under the steering column. If you have a trunk release unplug the wires. 3. Take out the four bolts that hold the steering column in place, removal of the steering wheel is not necessary. Let it rest on the seat. 4. The dimmer switch is operated by a rod going up to the turn signal stalk. Take note of how it is attached. 5. Unplug the wire from the dimmer switch. 6. Remove the screws and take off the switch. If the replacement switch comes with any further instructions follow them. Reverse the steps to put it all back together.

First you have to remove the cover on the steering column. Then locate the mounting screw for the switch. When installing the new switch make sure the alignment is correct.
