The 1991 BMW 520 distributor Can be found on the back side of the engine. The distributor Will be on the top of the engine.

If you are having the same issues (starting problems-no spark) that I had in my 1991 accord, I found out that there appearantly was a recall on the distributor. Do not try to replace pieces and parts of the ignition system. (ie. coil, ignition control module, etc.) Replace the entire distributor. It will save you hours of frustration.

Look on the side of your distributor. It takes a special wrench to remove it if it is there.

Yes. They used to be optional (1991 Galant), but (at least 1997 on) with alloy wheels appears to have had them as standard.

there is a foam insulator between the contacts in this model over time the foam breaks down causing this condition you need to replace the foam unit it was available from Mitsubishi

If you buy a carburetor kit (gaskets, needle&seat, check ball, accellerator pump, etc) it will (SHOULD!) come with a full diagram and instructions. Didn't Mitsubishi use TBI injection in 91? Not sure. If it's TBI injection, it's a whole different story.

There is two motors that came in the car from the factory. the 2.0 dual overhead cam that is referred to as a 4G63, it has coil packs. The other is a 1.8 liter that utilizes a distributor.

Cam sensor is inside the distributor under pick-up coil. Some say whole distributor has to come out to replace, some have snuck it out by removing pick-up coil.
