First you need to relieve pressure on the fuel system. Open your hood and locate the relay box. It's the black box in the driver's side corner of the engine compartment. Locate fuse No. 23 and pull it out. Then start your truck...Let it run for a bit or until it stalls. You will need a special disconnect tool that you can pick up at auto part stores for $4. There will be a little bit of gas spilled when you disconnect the lines so you'll also need some rags. The only other tools you will need are a pair of pliers. Safety glasses will keep gas out of your eyes The fuel filter is located under the drivers side door about 1 1/2 foot in. If you've already bought the filter you can see what it looks like then dive under and find it. First thing you'll need to do is use the pliers to remove the retaining clips off the three lines connected to the filter and hoses. These clips are back ups in case something fails. Use the pliers to pinch them together and unlock them for removal. If it's easier you can pull the filter out of the holder before starting. Next you will need to use the special tool...open the tool and place it around one of the nipples of the fuel filter. Then slide it into the hose end. It takes some force and you will hear or feel a click letting you know you have unlocked it. Then you can just pull off the hose. Repeat that same step for the next hoses. Be sure and label the inlet hose...I believe it is blue on the 2002, but it will be the hose going into the middle nipple on the back of the filter. Now all you have to do is remove the filter and pop the new one one. The hoses will lock into place with a little work and the new filter will pop back into the holder. If the filter is a little smaller you can bend the holder so it will stay in place. Replace the fuse that you removed earlier and start your truck. Viola!!! The fuel filter is under the drivers side door, you need a special disconnect tool to remove the gas tank side. I think it's above the fuel tank, kind of a pain to get to but can be done. THE FILTER IS UNDER THE DRIVER DOOR AND REQUIRES A SPECIAL TOOL TO REMOVE THE FUEL LINES.
Where is the cabin filter located on an Ford Explorer Sport Trac 2008?
Well the lines from the tank to the filter require a special tool you can buy at Auto Zone for about $6.
It doesn't have one.
You don't try to unclog it you just replace it with a new one.
underneath the Explorer , on the drivers side , mounted in the frame rail below the drivers door
