I just did this on both the driver and passenger sides and this is what I did: I purchased the whole headlight modules from a Pontiac dealership parts department. The price was $109 each (included a headlight bulb, purchased 8/2007) and the passenger and driver sides are different part numbers. I don't think you can easily replace just the light cover. Open the hood and look for two small bolts right on top. These two bolts hold the entire light assembly in place (headlight and turn signals). Remove these two bolts. Next, carefully wiggle the light assembly forward and out. The light assembly has a little tab that slides into the framing so be careful not to damage this. Once the light assembly is out, detach the wiring attached to the assembly and unclip the wiring to the headlight bulb. There are screws that hold the headlight module to the light assembly. Remove these two screws. You'll probably need a socket wrench with an extension for this since the screws are down in the assembly. The old headlight module will come out of the assembly easily at this point. Slide the new headlight module in place and attach with the screws. You may need to push a bit to get the screws started since the holes in the headlight module are not treaded. Reattach the headlight wiring clip and the light assembly wiring clip. Carefully slide the light assembly tab into place and reattach the assembly with the bolts that you removed. The driver and passenger sides are replaced in the same way. I think this is a problem that tends to occur in older Pontiac Grand Prix. Mine has 151k miles on it and both covers fell off in the span of about 3 weeks. This car has run very well for us so we'll probably keep it for a long time.

If it's the same as a 96 Pontiac Grand AM GT, than you would need a 10mm socket and rachet there are three bolts on top of headlight remove these and just pull out headlight. Disconnect the wire going to the bulb you want to replace.
