I Bet You Have A Northstar Engine. Your Starter Is Under The Intake Manifold If So. To Replace This Is Nothing Short Of A Nightmare. If This Is What You Have Expect To Pay A Large Service Bill To Have It Replaced. Thanks General Motors
i also need step by step instructions on how to take off old starter and replace new one if any one knows this would be very helpful to me. thanks
I started by removing the camshaft cover, then I realized the many other parts have to be removed before being able to succesfuly replace the sensor.... I also would like to know the procedure. Thanks

It will be a special tool that you'll need. Check with O'riely or a dealer.

i am trying to replace the belt tensioner on my 1997 ls400 , i got everything loose but there is a plastic seal right in front of it , it is holding the tensioner and there is where i got stuck , can someone tell me how to get the tensioner out without removing the plastic seal . thanks
thanks how many holding blots and where bad bendix (starter drive) if the spring in the starter bendix is weak or broken it will not engage the flywheel; but the starter will turn normally. bad thing is ,you have to pull the starter..good luck..
Depends on the motor (5.0 or 2.3) but both are located on the right side. On the 2.3 it is directly under the exhaust manifold. Same with the 5.0, but you will have to actually remove the header on the 5.0.I had a 5.0 with longtube headers and had to take it all apart to get to the starter, but I also have a 2.3 and its a fairly easy job to replace.Thanks.
any other tips for removing the skin and cooking would be great thanks
My 2004 kia optima timing belt teeth fell apart at 93k miles. I would replace it at 80K. System: while your driving the car, the car would turn off while running. Don't try to turn it on to many times cause it can cause other problems. Get it tolled away. thanks
PS i have removed all the bolts from under the car and hoses wiring ?? do i have to get a crow bar and pry it apart or take the engine and tranny out together ?? thanks again
how do you put a solenoid when theres a solenoid on a starter .I have a1981 Chevy scotdale truck and when the truck is warn i try to restart it hestiates when i do that a mechanic shop tells me that i need to by pass my starter so how do i do that . show me a video if you have one. thanks?
Don't just replace parts until you have checked them out and verified that you know what the problem is. Before you replace a starter make sure you know it is getting voltage when you turn the key. By changing so many parts you have made it more difficult to track down the problem. Check the voltage from the keyswitch to the starter when you turn the key. If you don't have a meter, get one. If you do not get voltage when you turn the key, check either the keyswitch or the neutral lockout.
if the battery is good, it is not the regulator.i would check all fuses first, then check starter solenoid and starter
"How do you replace a factory antenna on a 2002 Toyota Sienna?" I am talking about the whole assembly. Thanks
I know how to replace the plugs, but what do you have to take off on the fairing to get to the plugs. Thanks steve
You can try this method thanks to the video below...
I actually did one last night. First disconnect the negative battery terminal. The starter is located at the front of the engine. You will have to lift the front of the car up via a jack or ramps. Then you will have to remove the front cover that is underneath the radiator. It has bolts all of the way around. Once that is done you can get at the starter relatively easily. There are two bolts one is hidden underneath a small pastic cover where the starter meets the flywheel. Remove the starter by removing the two bolts. One is locater in the front and one is located at the back. Disconnect the two wires and Install the new starter. A word to the wise Have starter shims handy you will definitely need them. Take my word for it.. Thanks Good luck....
I finally went to the Ford parts department and they provided me with the diagram to replace the belt. Thanks anyway.
