How do you replace the starter on a 1995 Chevy S10 with a 4 cylinder engine?

Make sure to disconnect the negative battery cable first. Jack the front of the vehicle up to gain access to the starter motor (make sure to use jack stands, never rely on only the jack). Disconnect the wires from the solenoid (the cylinder on top of the starter) and then remove the bolts attaching the starter to the drivetrain, making sure to support the starter with one hand once both bolts are loose so it does not drop onto your head. Make sure to note any shims that may come out with the starter and put them back in the same orientation. Good luck and take your time.
