Actually you do not have to remove the transmission, their should be a drain plug on the side of the transmission pan, if not you can loosen the transmission pan, which should have between 8 to 12 bolts on, you can change your tranny fluid, and filter from there and replace a new gasket. No need in dropping your transmission. Your getting into more head ache than you need. I Jennifer.

There is usually no transmission cap. The tube that the tranny dip stick is in is where you add fluid if it is an automatic. You usually need a funnel that has a longer neck on it. If it isa standard then there is a check bolt that you remove and add fluid that way. Good luck.

Check the level of your transmission fluid, it's critical you have enough. If your fluid level is correct, the clutches in the transmission could be worn out, in that case you would need to rebuild the transmission or replace it. Make sure the fluid is a nice red colour and not brown and smells burnt.
