Basically it works like a ballpoint pen. CLICK it in all the way, then install it, and use a screwdriver / prybar to "click" it back out. You might have to fidget with it a bit and get it clicked in and out several times to make sure it will work when installed. they tend to get hard to press in. Also, if this is one you are re-using, it's full of oil, so be careful if you don't want your shirt decorated :) just wrap it in an old towel and do it slowly.

The Pontiac Grand Prix has a Timing Chain with a spring loaded tensioner. The tensioner is know to wear, crack and then break. The timing chain and tensioner should be replaced at 100,000 miles. This is a pretty big job that can be done with the motor in the car. $$$ Ray
