Chrysler products do not use inertia/reset switches.
I think it would be the same as a 1993, in which case it is located on the left hand side of the trunk, by the hinge.

On a 1992 Mercury Cougar ( which is OBD I , EEC IV ) There should be an EEC TEST connection in the engine compartment
Remove the fuel tank to access the fuel pump assembly.

in the trunk. look in the acsess door on the lower left hand side of the panel. push -the reset button. call for ?s 757-240-7755
Look in the trunk area on the passenger side. It has a little panel to allow access to the fuel cutoff.
The car was hit in the rear and now it won't start. I was thinking that it has a fuel cutoff switch but I do not have the owners manual.
