Provided you are talking about the MIL Light = Malfunction Indicator Lamp? the 97 Mark VIII is an OBDII computer system. it requires a scan tool to reset / turn off the MIL / check engine light. it requires repairing the fault / problem to keep it off. drl
The engine computer has detected a malfunction and set a code.
Trouble code P0650 means:Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) control circuit malfunction
Your MIL ( malfunction indicator light ) will be lit and a code for your O2 sensor will be logged.
Disconnect the neg cable from the battery for a moment or two. This will reset the light but it will come back on if the reason the light came on in the first place wasn't fixed.
Trouble code P0800 means: Transfer case control system MIL request - circuit open
There are two main causes for the readiness monitors being set to not ready: One, your battery was disconnected and reset the monitors; or your monitors were reset intentionally, such as having your check engine light (MIL) reset by someone using a scanning tool
Replace your thermostat. After 3 drive cycles without failure, the mil will turn off on its own. Or use a scantool.
find the fuse box behind a panel on the drivers upper side of the dashboard. Remove the cover and remove the #22 fuse (should read engine control or ECM control) for ~10- 20 seconds) Re-install fuse and MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) should be reset. If this procedure does not work remove the battery's positive and negative cables and touch them together for ~ 10 seconds. This should reset the keep alive memory. Be careful not to remove the #24 fuse for the Transmission control module!
Mil etter mil was created in 1978.
6 mil is thicker than 4 mil.
That is the "MIL" or Maintenance Indicator Lamp. Which is in common terms the check engine light. If this comes on you have a "DTC" Diagnostic Trouble Code stored in the cars Electronic Control Module (ECM) or the cars computer. Sometime a fault will appear and after X number of engine cycles starting and stopping the code will reset if it was something that took care of it's self.
