Disconnect the negative battery cable for a couple of minutes, then reconnect. This will erase the codes in the computer that makes the CHECK ENGINE light come on. If everything is okay, the CHECK ENGINE will stay off.
Tried exactly that advice on my 2001 Camry....and it worked like a charm!!!
