On my 1995 Maxima, I had to press the door switch approximately 12 times. I read on the internet to press it 15 times; and 7 times (per the recommendation here, and multiple times I tried) did not re-set it. Turn the key to the ON position (where al the lights on the dash light-up), then start pressing up to 15 times and the airbag light will re-set.

TAke it to the dealer as something is wrong for it to come on. The air bag won't work with the light on most of the time.

The airbag light stays on when the computer has detected a malfunction and set a code. A scan tool is required to read the codes. The light can not be reset until the failure is repaired.
