under the hood (I think on the driver side near the firewall) there is a small box. When the top is removed, you'll see a bunch of numbered holes (look like a diagnostic connector), an LED and a button. This is the computer diagnostic center.
By pressing the button, the codes can be shown with LED blinks.

this link has the codes (also a great W124/W140 site): http://pages.prodigy.net/jforgione/MB_DM.html (caution, his example is a W140 so the diagnostic connector is different, but the codes are the same)
When you have retrieved all the codes, hold the button down for 6-8 seconds. When you turn the key off, and then start the engine, the CE light will go off. (sometimes this needs to be done twice or three times) Your welcome, i love you too. lol
