∙ 2011-04-18 20:03:25The Passlock security system is the problem. Should be recalled. The resistor workaround at the key isn't always the only problem. I tried it on my 99 Suburban and it didn't do any better with the resister bypass. You need to eliminate the entire security system. Go here http://newrockies.com/?ap_id=craigpeate for a module to bypass the system completely. Buy the pro module for $179 plus shipping and save yourself the hassle of dealing with it ever again. Or you could go to the dealer and have them replace the entire system for over $1000. They will have to replace the key/tumbler/hall effect switch/wiring and EVO-Passlock module to get it right. Check out my profile page for a list of vehicles affected.

You have to turn the ignition to the "on" position.. and wait for 10 minutes. The "Security" light will quit flashing and you will finally be able to start your car. I have had to do this -all too often. I've heard you can remove the neg. cable from your battery and wait 10 seconds to reset your computer as well. (Then you have to reprogram your radio and clock!)

∙ 2011-04-18 20:03:25When your security light comes on and your car will not start, turn you key to the on position and wait 10 minutes. The light will go off and you need to turn the key to the off position, then restart your car.
It probably won't start
You can't bypass or reset security system, bring it to the dealer.
always on nomatter what i do
Turn the key to "on" and let it sit for approx 10 minutes until the 'security' light stops flashing. Turn to off and start as normal.
security system there is a security reset button in the glove box.
turn off engine, and start again
Put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position. Leave in this position for ten minutes. Turn key to off then to start. This should reset the security and the car should start right up.
Turn key over but not on and let set for about 15 min and then start car...it has got to reset itself...also it will eventually go out...so be prepared to spend about 250. dollars =)
Turn the ignition switch into the "On" position and leave for approximately 30 minutes. The security light will remain flashing for approx. 10-15 minutes. Then, will turn off and the modulator will reset. Then, turn the ignition to the off position take the keys out and the reinsert and start the car. The "security" light at this point will be off. Due to the security modular, the fuel pump is being shut off to control the theft of the car.
I've had this problem where I couldn't start my car and it turns out it was because the security light was on. To fix it: Place the key in the ignition and turn it one rotation (so battery is on) then leave it in the ignition for 10 minutes. Restart car and security light will be off.... also car will start!
Yes to bypass,Press on the brake, turn car to as then on let the carburetor fill then, put the car in neutral, then start. If the security light is flashing, the car will not start for 10 minutes. Do not try to start while light is flashing.
