The diffuser is usually connected to the back plate of the wet end of pool pump that houses the filter basket. It is typically attached by two fine Allen head at the 10 and 4 positions. To remove you need to detach the wet end from the pump end to remove the diffuser.
You will have to dig out underneath the pool and set a line underneath the bottom. You then attach this line to a pump. While you are building the pool you must keep this pump running.
