∙ 2008-10-01 22:59:13I have a 96 grand am that done the same thing. If your out and stuck and really need the car started take a screwdriver and kick the starter in yourself under the hood. Car needs to be in neutral. this is the only way ours would start. Re-cap.. I have the same car and when your theft system light comes on what you will need to do is put your car in the on position (do not turn over, just leave in the position) and leave it there for 10-15 minutes. In that time you will continue to see the light blinking, but after the 10-15 minutes, the light will stay lit instead of blinking. That shows you that your computer has been reset and you will now be able to turn on your car. Hope this helps!

∙ 2008-10-01 22:59:13how much to insall a ignition to a pontiac grand am se 1999?
I got a friend whose key can't turn the ignition on her 2000 Pontiac Grand Am. She can't get the steering wheel to unlock either.

Yes
the steering wheel..
it is located on the steering column
Have you checked the timing? It could be that or something else wrong with the ignition system.
The ignition coil is down between the firewall and the back of the engine
ignition what? coil, swicth, module, lock cylinder? gm Jim
Grand ams have all sorts of problems, lol! Are you having problems with the car randomly not starting? Yes the design of the ignition system is notorious for problems, state what the car is (or isn't doing) & can advise further.
i have a 2003 Pontiac grand am, no start, does not even turn over. could it be the ignition switch?
The ignition switch in a 2004 Pontiac grand am can be installed by first Sliding out old lock cylinder and then Press the small release tab While turning the key to the ON Position.
