sounds like the water pump is gone. that may be where the leak is coming from. could also be the cap for the coolant res. or thermostat

A 2002 Chevy cavalier 2.2l needs 10.7 (qts) of silicate free antifreeze.

usually caused by a leaking heater core.

its leaking under the car around where the dash is

That is because it is hot ( over heating ). You need to check all 4 corners of the intake manifold with your fingers to see if it is leaking antifreeze. Chevy had a problem with the intakes leaking engine coolant. There is a heater hose fitting screewed into the left rear corner of the intake and thay are none for leaking engine coolant too. You should check the water pump for leaks too.

A Chevy Cavalier can use standard, all-purpose antifreeze, so it's unlikely that the wrong kind was put in. However, if it is not diluted properly and the antifreeze is mixed with more than 50 percent water, the engine can overheat under some circumstances.

the heater core, heater core hoses or heater control valve is leaking

The sunroof on a Chevy Cavalier can often be repaired by replacing the outer seal. This prevents rain from leaking into the vehicle and causing additional problems.

A small radiator leak can cause antifreeze to leak on your 1998 Chevy Lumina when there are not any spots on the ground. A pinhole in a hose can also cause this.

You can put anti-freeze into the search tank of your Chevy Cavalier. Newer Chevy Cavaliers have a sealed radiator and the search tank is the only place you can put anti-freeze into the system.

A 1997 Chevy Cavalier uses a standard 50/50 mix of antifreeze coolant and water. This keeps the engine from overheating and from freezing in the winter.

Yes. Never add pure antifreeze. Pure antifreeze will actually freeze before a 50/50 mix. Add coolant that is a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water. You can buy it already pre-mixed.
