the heater core is leaking it is located in the duct work under the dash

I currenty owne a 99 suburban and owned a 97. The leak is probably from the "weeper" hole on the bottom of the pump and if it is "leaking" then your water pump bearings are going out and you need to replace the pump. Both of my water pumps went out at 70,000 mile--cheap parts.

Your engine may have a leaking hose connection or a leaking gasket at the water outlet. It could also be a leaking hose.

Are you sure it is water? If it is water, it could be just condensed water off the A/C condenser. Drive the truck without the A/C on, do you still see water leaking?- Yes - See below- No - no worries, it is normal for water to build up when using the A/C. It is condensation like on the side of a cold drinking glass.Does it have a sweet smell to it? Is it orange or florescent green, antifreeze? If your suburban is leaking water it can be a few items.- Bad water pump - Very common- Bad worn out radiator hose- Bad radiator- Loose or old radiator cap

User Avatar

Typically, if your car is leaking water it has to do with the air conditioning system. This simply usually means the condensation is leaking from the AC.

User Avatar

The A/C is supposed to leak water. This is condensation, and is normal. Now if you are saying it is leaking inside the vehicle, then the drain line is clogged. Find the drain line and unclog it.

Fluid on the passenger side floor is one of two things. Either you have a water leak from outside, as in a windshield leaking, condenser drain line stopped up and leaking into the car, or the heater core is leaking. Taste the fluid. If it taste sweet, it is coolant and the heater core needs replacing.

silicone spray helps wipe it on all rubber gaskets and wherever the gasket touches metal

User Avatar

If it is leaking out of the bottom, you replace it. There is no way to patch a leak in a water heater.

User Avatar

Your heater core, which is under the dash is supplied by coolant from the engine. If it is leaking, or the hoses to it are leaking, it could end up on your carpet. Also, if the drain for the A/C evaporator is clogged, you would have a similar result. This sometimes happens after getting a car undercoated.

Put water in it and if it leaks ..... its leaking. A DUUUUUHHHHHHHHH!

User Avatar

The way you stop your water pump from leaking on a Ford Transit Lorry depends on why it is leaking. The most common fix is to replace the gasket on the water pump.

User Avatar

Usually a leaking hose into or out of the water pump (depending on its location), or the water pump gasket.

User Avatar

If your hot water heater is leaking, you need to replace it. It will rapidly get worse and there is no repair.

User Avatar

Three possibilities come to mind:1. A leak towards the rear of one of the sliding doors.2. A missing or damaged fastener that penetrates the flkoor allowing water to be splashed up from the road.3. A leaking rear heater core or plugged condensate vent from the rear A/C unit.

The carpet shampoorer uses water and it doesnt have to be heated. The carpet steamer uses heated water that in many cases may skill or retard the growth of bacteria.

There is no reason to change the water pump, unless it is leaking engine coolant. If you have a overheating problem then it is something else that's wrong, Thermostat, stoped up radiator. Bad fan clutch. These are a few things you can check.

User Avatar

There is a drain that is plugged. May need to access it by removing glove compartment or accessing from wiper cowl? Not sure where exactly, but that's the likely source.

A leaking water heater can be very dangerous and should not be used if it is leaking. Also, you should clean the leakage and keep it away from any other electronics.
