There are two screws visible on the lower sides of the panel next to the AC controls and two more insde the top of each air output registers at the top of the panel. If you direct the vents all the way to the top you can see these two Phillips head screws. Finally the two nuts on the shafts of the radio. The center escutcheon will now come off and allow access to the radio and AC controls.

Remove the front cover of your 1979 Chevy Corvette radio. Remove the radio retaining screws. Slide the radio out. Remove the wiring harness and the antenna cable from the back of the radio. Reverse the process to install the new radio.
Float level too high. Have the float level adjusted. IF IT WAS A FORD I WOULD SAY IGNITION MODULE AND BE CONFIDENT WITH THAT ANSWER. BUT A CADI ITS POSSIBLE ITS THE MODULE I HAVE SEEN THEM DO STRANGER THINGS (I THINK ITS RIGHT TURNS ON FORD MODULES)LOL Loose wire or other shtuff shorting out the ignition?
