Support the engine using a chain with a support beam across the two fenders(there is a special tool designed just for this). The engine will remain in the vehicle, but when the tranny is removed there will be no other support for the engine than this support beam, and it will be hanging over your head, so it has got to be right. Raise the vehicle in the air and remove the engine/transmission support cradle. Support the tranny on a tranny jack, and remove all necessary stuff like starter, wire connectors, flywheel nuts, cooler lines, bellhousing bolts, and remove the unit out the bottom.
