They just pull straight up. Mine were hard to pull out. No fancy catches.

Not sure if it's different from the 2008, but on mine there's a button on one side, and on the opposite side there's a small hole. Take a wire coat hanger or small Allen wrench and push it into the hole while pressing the button. Pop the headrest off and flip it around, or toss the headrests in the trunk like I did. :)

I have the same vehicle and same problem. I was told you can remove it by sliding a slim tool down into the support hole and suppress the release or unzip the cover on the lower back of the seat, reach up in the seat with a screwdriver and do it that way. I've had no luck with either, but you can take it to a upholstery shop and they will most likely do it for free.
