How do you take the factory radio out of a 1999 Subaru Outback Impreza?

You first must take off the plastic trim of the dash that st around the shiter knob. itl just pop off. then unbolt the two screws holding the cubby underneath the cigarette lighter. there will also bee two screws you must remove that sit facing up above where the ash tray is; remove that by pressing the lever that's inside the ashtray down and pulling it out. now you can pop off the main plastic face plate. remove both wire harness that attach to the cigar lighter. now unbolt the four screws (two on each side of the center console tower) and the two below the stereo and boxes. now the whole center tower will come out and you can remove the screws that hold the stereo in place.

∙ 12y agoyou will need a Phillips screw driver pull out the ash tray,there are 2 screws take them out ,on the top of the plastic trim there are 2 more screws take those 2 out also,now you can pull off the plastic trim,take out the 4 screws on the framing now, and the radio is out don't forget to disconnect your wiring from the back !

∙ 14y agoI have a 2000 impala and installed an aftermarket radio and amps. First you need to remove the fuse covers on both sides and find the screws that hold the dash in place. the dash will have to be removed in order to access the stero.

∙ 12y agoThere is a plastic piece of trim that frames the radio and the climate control panel. If you grasp this piece and pull gently, it will pop off. Underneath, you will see that the radio is held in by 4 Phillips head screws.

Fuse for the radio and clock is in the panel behind the coin tray. It is fuse #9. Your owner's manual has this information along with a diagram that I cannot share in this space. If you do not have a manual for your car, you need one.
