Have your doctor refer you to a psychiatrist for evaluation.

Diagnostic criteria are given in DSM 5 and ICD 10 for all psychiatric conditions, but being certain you are using the differential diagnostic criteria correctly to avoid misdiagnosing as something unrelated to the real problem but with some similar features can be very confusing to a layman.

Essentially, if you are so anxious and fearful of daily life that you cannot function because your anxiety is uncontrollable and insurmountable, then you have an anxiety disorder. Typically, sufferers of anxiety disorders also experience physical manifestation of their concerns, namely sweatiness, headaches, and the like.

If you experience debilitating panic attacks and anxiety related to experiencing panic attacks, worrying about worrying, then you also likely fall under the umbrella of an anxiety disorder.

Obsessive, or compulsive behaviours may also be indicative of underlying anxiety.

In any case, if you are genuinely concerned then you should speak to either your family doctor, or a mental health professional. The first step to resolving your problem is seeking help and you've already begun on the path to a better, less-stressful life.

I hope that I addressed your concerns. :)

You may find that your palms are cold and sweaty, or your heart might be pounding at a fast rate. You could feel as though you were under attack, even though you knew that you weren't. You could have an attack of diarrhea, which is a survival action dating back to the earliest humans and animals.

I you took 2 very, very deep breaths and slowly let them out, and it made you feel better, then an anxiety attack might be in progress.

You could try deep breathing through you nose and mouth, you could try St. John's Wort (a herb sold at Wal Mart), you could try 5 HTP (a supplement sold at Wal Mart). There are self help tapes, video and audio, that are sold at Amazon com, and Barnes and Noble. There are medical doctors who can treat anxiety, and prescribe medical drugs if necessary. There are books you can get at the local library that help treat anxiety. You might want to read the Wikipedia article on Anxiety and how to treat it. Just remember-Jesus loves you and you are an important being in the eyes of God. If you treat your anxiety, you will find the world is a much better place to live in.

You can tell if someone has an anxiety disorder if they are too anxious about something. If they are extremely eager about everyday issues then they most likely have an anxiety disorder.

Does it sound like I am have problems with my anxiety or possible heart problems?

having anxiety problems doesnt necessarily indicate heart problems. having anxiety does cause the body to freak out which in turn prepares the body for any danger that may arise. E.g heart rate and pulse will rise possibly getting the feeling of the heart pounding, the body will produce adrenaline, breathing will speed up, hence why you may hyperventilate or be short of breath.
