How can you tell the different between male and female guppies?

Male guppies are much more colourful, and have larger tails than females. As well as this, underneath the fish near their tail is a small fin, in males this is spiky, and in females this is a triangle. Females often have a larger more rounded belly than males.

Depends on what type of pigeon you are referring to (there are many different species of pigeons in the world). If they have a nest, the female will incubate the eggs during the night and the male will incubate the eggs during the day. If you see youngsters around, it's the male that's teaching them the ways of the world, while the female is tending to a new clutch of eggs. In general, males tend to be a bit bigger than females. Males will chase after their females with their tail feathers fanned and dragging their fanned tail feathers on the ground. Females behave similarly, however, they don't drag their tail feathers on the ground.

Female guppies have a rounded or triangular anal fin. The male guppy has a very pointed anal fin that has developed into a pointed shape and this is called a gonopodium which is the livebearer fishes equivalent of a penis. Other obvious diferences are the males have many more and brighter colours and are much smaller than the females.

Turn the fish over and look at the Vent areas. The Female is shaped like a number 8 or a keyhole effect. The male is not .
