The marked # 1 position on the distributor cap of a 1972 Ford 302 cubic inch V8 engine faces to the rear and slightly towards the drivers side ( if that's what you are referring to )
Need to know what make and engine this 1972 is.
when you open the engine cover look at the right side as you stand . no 1 cylinder is the inner one in the side where the starter located.
If it is the same as the 250 straight six cylinder used in some of the GM cars in 1972 # 1 position on the distributor cap faces towards the front of the engine The distributor rotor turns CLOCKWISE The spark plug firing order is ( 1 - 5 - 3 - 6 - 2 - 4 )
Many Ford V-8's number 1 cylinder would be located on the passenger side bank most forward cylinder. It would be helpful to know which engine you have to be sure.
Front cylinder on the drivers side.
it is located In the engine compartment right next to the brake master Cylinder. that is the data plate .
you will need V8 motor mounts and a bigger radiator.
In a 1972 Ford Mustang : Either the 250 cubic inch , inline six cylinder engine , the 302 cubic inch V8 engine , or there were ( 3 ) versions of the 351 cubic inch V8 engine
Front driver side
The approximate maximum speed of the 1972 Chevrolet 400 with a diesel, 4 cylinder, 45 HP engine was 79 miles per hour.
This was the late 1970 to 1972 1600 cc engine.
That's the B30 straight six cylinder engine , right ? The firing order is ( 1 - 5 - 3 - 6 - 2 - 4 ) The distributor rotor turns COUNTERCLOCKWISE The # 1 position on the distributor cap faces towards the engine according to the picture in my Chilton repair book
