There are a number of HIV test options available. A rapid oral swab is commonly used as a screening test. A positive must be confirmed with a blood test.

Can anyone become infected with HIV if bitten by a mosquito that came in contact with an HIV infected person?

This is frequently asked question! HIV infection does not transmit by the fleas. They suck the blood of the infected person. When the flea bites you it does not inject back the same blood. You do not get HIV infection that way.

How can you tell if someone is infected with AIDS?

You can't, you can't. Be clear on this; you CANNOT tell. Don't let anyone fool you into thinking there is some kind of "method". Even if you ask and the person answers honestly, you cannot tell. Very few HIV+ people become infected intentionally, so that they know instantly when they should start answering the question "yes". Be cautious and remain safe. You can't do a "re-take" after becoming HIV+. See link to left. First things first: IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO BECOME INFECTED WITH AIDS. AIDS is simply a syndrome that develops as a result of advanced HIV infection. The only way to tell if someone is infected with HIV is for him, or her, to take an HIV test .. and the only way for you to tell if you are infected with HIV is for you to take an HIV test.

Is caffeine-based drinks favourable to HIV infected people?

I've been HIV positive for over 20 years now and drink about a 2 liter of Pepsi a day for roughly about the same amount of time. I really don't see or have a problem, caffeine isn't really a big concern to the other problems a HIV infected person can face.

Relationship for 34 years could I have HIV if we have both been with no one else?

While HIV is primarily sexually transmitted, it may also be transmitted by sharing needles, or by receiving a transfusion of infected blood. If you suspect you have become infected with HIV, you should see your health care provider immediately.

Is HIV bacterial or fungal?

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) It is viral, that is what the V stands for. It can be treated but at this time cannot be cured. A person can live a long and healthy live after being infected with HIV if they stay on the drug regimen prescribed by the doctor. They need to see an infectious disease doctor. With all the research being done, a cure is sure to come about soon. HIV is not AIDS and with proper treatment may never become AIDS. HIV is found in the body fluids of an infected person (semen and vaginal fluids, blood and breast milk). The virus is passed from one person to another through blood-to-blood and sexual contact. In addition, infected pregnant women can pass HIV to their babies during pregnancy, delivering the baby during childbirth, and through breast feeding. AIDS (Acquired immune deficiency syndrome or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) is a disease caused by a virus called HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus).

You see this injection needle lying on the grass you pick it up is it possible to be infected with hiv?

HIV is spread through blood and sexual fluids. If the needle had blood or sexual fluids that contained HIV and it came in contact with YOUR blood or sexual fluids (i.e. if you pricked your finger with it), then yes, it is possible that HIV spread.

I ingested a small amount of someone's blood by accident and often have bleeding gums so may have had tiny open sores in my mouth. What are the chances of me contracting HIV?

Well, I want you to think about this first. Did the other person have HIV at the time? If not, then you just got some blood in your mouth. Now, if the person did have HIV at the time, then you may have a problem. See, the saliva in your mouth is actually capable of rendering HIV harmless. However, if you have a cut in your mouth you can contract the virus. So, if the person did have HIV at the time go get tested.

Does the HIV transmits if you leek vagina?

A person leaking vagina is not a symptom of HIV infection. It is, however, very odd. You should see a doctor.
