My 2001 Dodge Dakota R/T 's blower fan for the a/c unit quit working in mid use. I checked all fuses, and relays, with no success. Does anyone know how to remove the fan switch, and test it?
switch dead short bad wire test wires or trace system out
Before taking the dash apart check the resistor. I have a 97 Dakota & it is located under the cowl. That resistor controls the fan speeds. You can check the switch using the resistor connecter. Pull connecter off resistor & use a 12 volt test light. Turn ign on & check for voltage at connecter on each fan speed. Have voltage then it is the resister or fan. (you can run a jumper wire from battery to fan to check it) No voltage then you go to the switch/wires etc. 95% of time it is the resistor.
turn the dial and see if something happens
The Dakota consisently recieves above average safety ratings. This has been confirmed from a variety of tests. http://www.carsdirect.com/dodge/dakota/safety is a website with all the safety test results. They have 5-star front and side ratings for all make/models.
first check your fuses then test the switch in different positions with a volt meter.
The water you see under the car when the air conditioner is running is condensation. If you are leaking antifreeze then you need to pressure test the system and repair the leak.
You are out of freon. Go to your regular mechanic and ask him to test and fill your system.
Try starting the vehicle while it's in gear. If it starts, your neutral safety switch is faulty.
Oil pressure test. If you have a gage it should read around 40 psi when hot.
That is an access port to pressure test the evaporative emissions system.
You should be able to switch the relay with the horn relay and then check to see if the horn works.
Pressure test system to determine the origination of leak i.e. hose, radiator, heater core, etc.
