Hi, I had a 89 f-150 4x4 300 inline six. I jacked the front of the truck up till tires cleared grount, I then had a friend turn the steering back and forth makeing comlete turns till it stops each way, while I tightened the screw on the (rack) where your steering shaft meets at the radiator. I have been told there are several different ways to do this, but this worked for me. If you have a lot of play, two to three inches of play at the steering wheel you may have to replace the (rack). If you try this don't over tighten, make very small adjustments. Note: it takes an Allen wrench/key.
