Camshafts are generally used to open and close valves at the correct time.
Probaly cause the valves are out of adjustment causing the valves to stay partialy opened when they should be closed resulting in low compression.You have to remove the cams to adjust these valves because the adjustment shims are under the bucket which rides under the cam lobes.Beware ..if you have never done this, or are not a good mechanic dont try this at home.Can be very time consuming chasing shims if you dont take a accurate mesurement of the shims first.Secondly you will have to set both cams after you replace the proper shims an if the cam timings not right, you could very easily destroy your Valves or Piston. get a manuel.. That depends on the car. Most of the time it won't work. If you're thinking of a straight swap with no other work, than no it wont work. You're better off getting after market cams made for you car's engine
