How do you troubleshoot or replace heater blower on 1984 Nissan 300zx?

This is actually one of the easiest parts on these complex cars.

To Troubleshoot:

1. First check your voltage to see if the blower motor is receiving any electricity. (If you don not know where the blower motor is located refer to replacing)

2. If it does make your tester light up you are receiving electricity. Take off the blower motor and hook up test leads to a 12v battery source, I use my car's battery but it may not be the best idea.) If the blower motor turns on you know its good. CAUTION: when the blower motor turns it is powerful so make sure you have a tight grip on it.

REPLACING:

1. Take off the negative battery terminal.

2.The blower motor is located in the passenger side of the car, it is not hard to find if you lay down in the floor board you should see the underside of it.

3.To get to it simply take of the kick panel towards the door. there is a electronic system there, unbolt it from the frame, do not disconnect any wires, this will only complicate things.

4. Unconnect the wire attached to the blower motor. Now comes the easy part, unnattach the three screws holding up the blower motor,be careful once the three screws are undone it will simply fall out of the dash.

5. Now simply reattach all the wires and bolts and your done.

Pat yourself on the back most mechincs charge three hours worth of work. for a thirty min job, if your slow.
