You would have to pull courtesy light fuse, if they are to be open for extended period for repairs, just disconnect batt
its either your doors switch that has gone bad or your rear hatch.
i literally just had the same issue with my 203 explorer, followed the advice given on numerous forums and WD-40'd the hell out of each of the latching mechanisms and it seems just fine now.my lights in lincoln navigator wont go out when I close the doors
If your courtesy lights are staying on with the doors closed and there is no door ajar warning light , check on your dash to the right of your headlight switch. There is a dimmer wheel switch for your guage lighting , if it has been rotated all the way up that turns on your courtesy lights when the doors are closed
Its your door ajar switch and it cost 17 bucks for the part and $200 for labor to fix. I had mine replace back in 2004. We have recently had the same problem on ours, our advice is to spray WD40 onto all door latches and work it in by opening and closing doors a couple of times, this DOES work and will cost you literally next to nothing!!!
door ajar means one of the cars doors are not closed all the way in ture this will keep your dome light on
This is caused by a defective or misaligned door ajar switch. You need to get a wiring diagram and verify open-closed switch function of each individual sensor. If you have the wiring diagram please post. You are not alone!Answerlook here -> http://www.cartrackers.com/Forums/live/fordwindstar/20.html
you may have a circuit or you can check your doors for any malfunctions
make sure ALL the doors are closed
Found out the problem, it was the door ajar button
Check your guage light dimmer wheel ( just to the right of your headlight switch ) to see if it has been rotated all the way up - that turns on your interior lights. Also , if you are getting a door ajar warning light in your gauge cluster you could have a door ajar switch sticking inside one of your doors , liftgate , or for the liftgate glass
The door ajar switches are inside the doors mounted on the backside of the door latches
bad door ajar switch inside one of the doors its in the striker assy
