First turn the key to the run position, but do not start. Push the gas pedal down to the floor 3 times within five seconds. Turn the key off and then cycle back on and start the truck. The indicator should flash five times and go out. This may take a few tries, they can be stubborn
on a 2001 silverado you clear the message center by turn the ignition to the on position and pressing the gas pedel all the way to the floor 5 times in 5 seconds
Turn your key to the on position but don't start the vehicle all the way then press the gas pedal a few times until the light (CHANGE OIL SOON) starts flashing that means it has been reset for another 3000 miles!

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by a steering wheel position sensor. There's no such thing. There is a sensor for the pressure to bump up the idle if the vehicle is sitting still and you turn the wheel. There's also the turn signal cam and canceling switch.

Check the 2001 Grand Ams crank shaft position sensor first. If the sensor is bad then the engine will not get fire or start.
Turn the key from off to on twice and then depress and release the gas pedal 3 times quickly. This works for a 2003 Silverado.
Change the ignition. Take a pare of pliers, turn it back, then change the ignition.
Test or replace the sensor in the radiator side tank.
