The only solution you have is to do a factory reset on the phone and then put all of your data back onto the phone. (Hopefully, you synced your phone to either the cloud or to Google not long before you locked the handset.)

To begin, you will need to shut the phone off and wait one minute. After the minute is over, you need to press the power on button and the volume up button at the same time and hold them until the Manufacturer's screen comes up, then you release both buttons.

If your phone continues to turn on, you didn't get the two buttons pressed at exactly the same time. Try again until you get a screen that says: Factory Reset in tiny letters at the top of your phone.

When those word appear, tap them once. Your phone will ask if you are sure you want to erase everything you have on the phone. Tap yes.

Your phone will wipe everything from its memory, including the password that you have forgotten. When the phone is done wiping its memory, it will restart and then let you set it up like it is a brand new phone.
