I use a knife to get rid of the shrink wrap. Just be careful not to cut yourself or damage the case.
it depends what kind of DVD ripper you are using. I recommend DVD shrink 2.3 to rip the DVD and VSO DvixtoDVD 0.5.2 to convert it and DvixtoDVD 4 to burn it.
