I just approached this problem, I connected the antenna into the Insignia, an from the Insignia to the Tivo (Series 2), then from the Tivo into the TV. This way I watch Tivo and use the Insignia channels when I change to (Tivo) channel 3. Perhaps not a perfect solution but gives me both of their full capabilites.
Yes, there is a good solution: The first step you must do is transfer your TiVo TV shows to your computer. you can use TiVo Desktop program, or search it via Google, and you will easy find it. Then use DVD to Zune video converter, you can find it from the following site: http://www.008soft.com/how-to-convert/tivo-to-zune-converter.htm
No. It is not hard to use DirectTv DVR with Tivo. The reason how I know this is because I have a Tivo and i find that it is not hard to use directtv dvr with it.
Yes, if the unit has a built-in tuner for HDTV.
No, you do not need a digital converter box to use a DVD Player, all you need is a TV.
You can still program the remote with the converter box off if you know the code. Then Use it to turn the converter on.
Only if you new service provides tivo.
If by converter box you mean a digital converter box, the type that are being subsidized by the government, you don't. If you mean a tuner box, it is because the cable line is transmitting data, and it has to be interpreted into a video signal your TV can use.
You can turn on magnavox converter boxes without remotes by going to the central control box and then pressing the reset button to accomodate the power button.
If the TV is a HDTV and there are HDTV stations near by you won't need a converter box.
No, you can use TiVo with an antenna or any cable service. Check out http://www.tivo.com/whatistivo/compatibilityandsetup/whichtivo/index.html to see what TiVo would work best for you.
There is a program called visualhub that will allow you to convert to the TIVO format for transfer back to TIVO. You use the tivo decktop for MAC and visual hub will update to allow video transfers. see www.visualhub.net Newer versions of Toast do Tivo files too.
I think you can.
