∙ 15y agoUsing the Slice tool essentially establishes the places that you would like the overall image in your Photoshop Document to be cut up into little pieces (smaller JPG/GIF images) to be more easily integrated into a web/multi-media environment. i.e. - If you have a PSD file that contains the overall layout of your web page, and the page contains a header, and 3 columns below, you could use the slice tool to establish these 4 separate regions of the image, and then save the 4 separate regions as 4 separate image files to be used in the actual web page.
