Ah, could be tricky. Depends on what withdrawal symptoms you are experiencing but a common method is to slowly decrease dosage. For example, Day1/Day2 dose=2mg, day3/day4 dose=1mg, day5/day6 .5mg. Of course, you will still experience slight withdrawal, but the only way to get over it is to completely stop usage. This method can apply to many other benzodiazepines also.

The best way to wean off of the muscle relaxer Flexeril is to do it slowly. The rate at which a person should cut their doses depends on how long they've been on the medication and what their dosage is. The best way to wean off of this medication is to come up with a plan with your doctor.

There is no need to wean off birth control pills. You can stop "cold turkey" anytime you like. Taking them irregularly has no benefit.

take a little less everyday

Not without risking a seizure!

Your doctor should help wean you off of it, if your doing it alone, you can probably start by lowering your daily dosage by cutting the pills in half for a month or 2, but it might be better and safer to have your doctor wean you off.

You can ween yourself of anything.

Yes, you can. Some examples are: - You are a wean. - Suck my wean. - What the f**k is a wean?

Lorazepam (Ativan) has a long half-life, so it is a good choice for tapering, though diazepam is traditionally used. Getting off benzodiazepines is difficult no matter which one you taper with. Cut off your supply of Xanax and find someone to hold the Ativan for you so you aren't tempted to take more when things get rough.

The best way to wean of Lexapro is to work with your doctor. With your doctor's permission, you can shave off a little bit of your pill each day and take the remaining part. Pretty soon there will e nothing left and you will be off Lexapro.

You do not have to gradually wean off the Ativan (lorazepam) if switching to Xanax (alprazolam). Ativan, chemical name: lorazepam, has a weaker affinity for the benzodiazepine receptors in the brain than does Xanax, chemical name: alprazolam. In this case, the Xanax will bind more tightly to those receptors than Ativan, but the half lives of the metabolites will be about the same. If you take a proper dosage of Xanax at the usual time that you take the Ativan, you will not have to worry about withdrawal or overdosing. The metabolite half life of both lorazepam and alprazolam are both 6 to 12 hours. One half milligram of alprazolam is approximately equivalent to one milligram of lorazepam. So, if substituting for 2 milligrams of ativan, you might use 1 milligram of Xanax. I have included benzodiazepine equivalency charts in the links. However, you must do this under medical advice, since you must take an equivalent dosage of Xanax to Ativan. Your response to the metabolites of the different drugs may differ from the average. Please note: I have replaced benzodiazepine chart 1 with another since it disagreed with and was less accurate than the others. Also, please take the viewpoints of with grain of salt. They expound the so called "dangers" of benzodiazepines far too much, in my opinion. And their long withdrawal schedules border on the ridiculous. Again, my opinion only.

Terrible. Sleeplessness. Personal experience. The doctor took me off Ativan cold turkey and I didn't sleep for eight long, miserable, hellish days.

when you wean a piglet you are supposed to do it when it is dead.

You should wean yourself slowly from this medication as withdrawal and side effects can be uncomfortable. Wean yourself off slowly by 25 to 50 mg - almost identically to the way in which you started taking the drug - under the supervision of your physician.

The mother decided to wean her 6 month old baby off of breast milk because she had gotten old enough to begin to eat babyfood.

NEVER wean yourself off these medications without working with your doctor on this. By not seeing the doctor to try and save a little money you can get yourself into some hot water. There are side effects coming off of these types of drugs so it's to your advantage to have your doctor help wean you off of them.

You should always titer your drug dose up slowing and likewise slowly decrease it as you wean off of it. However, Prozac and Zoloft are in the same drug class, they are both SSRI's so switching between the 2 you do not have to wean off of one before moving to the other. If you decide to discontinue use of both, or move to another class of drug, you should slowly decrease the drug dose to wean off of it.

Usually people will wean foals from 6 to 9 months of age. but it is possible to wean a baby horse (foal) at 3 months old... i wouldn't wean them before 6 months of age because it can cause the baby to get ill and not grow properly. but i bought a horse from a man, a mare with a "baby" at her side, the baby was a little over 2 YEARS old and had not been weaned... he still drank off his mother alllllll the time and we could not get him off of her. we had to stick him in a stall and bring his mom to the vet to give her a shot to dry her up. (get her to stop producing milk). So that's a good reason to not wait to long to wean a baby but remember don't wean to early 6 months is the time you really want to wean your foal.
