In APA, you would include the first and middle initials of each author in order to distinguish between them. See this page for an example (under the heading "If two authors have the same last name"): http://leo.stcloudstate.edu/research/apaintext.html In MLA, you would include the authors' first names. See this site for an example: http://leo.stcloudstate.edu/research/mlaparen.html
Introduce a reference or quote with a colon (:), take a new line and use quotation marks. You could also italicize your quote.
For example,
*
Takeo is an instinctive character in the novel:
"Without thinking, i leaped forward and
plunged the dagger straight into his chest."
He doesn't think before he acts, yet carries out what needs to be done without fault.

Hope that helps :)
easy. say the quote is "he was laughing so much" when your writing your essay in any sentence write that quote.
and after the quote, in parentheses, you put the author's last name, and the page #.
Example;
-author's last name is Conner
-page # is 83
...and "he was laughing so much" (Conner 83).
REMEMBER to always put the period after the end parentheses. it looks awkward, but it's correct. if you want to continue the sentence, you just don't put the period and just put it at the end where it usually goes.
Example;
...and "he was laughing so much" (Conner 83) that he couldn't control himself.
Hope it helped!
first you have to know where you got your information. then if your information is from a book you but the authors name and the title in parentheses after the fact you get. if the information is from a website put the exact website name in parentheses after the fact.
(note: if every fact in the paragraph is from the website/book then cite after the whole paragraph.
put reference and then in brackets put the website/book you got it from. for a book you have to put the author then date published then page number and picture name i.e. figure 1.2.3.4....
write the author's last name, then the page number that you found it on. ex. if my book is written by john doe, and i took an idea from page 3, i would write (Doe 3)

Lipsitt may start his essay with a reference to provide context, engage the reader, or establish the underlying theme or concept that will be explored throughout the essay. By referencing a specific idea, quote, or historical event at the beginning, Lipsitt can frame his argument and set the tone for the discussion that follows.
